Notable window dressers: Simon Doonan<\/a>\u00a0of Barneys.\u00a0David Hooey<\/a>\u00a0of Bergdorf Goodman. Gene Moore<\/a>\u00a0was a leading 20th century window dresser who joined Tiffany & Company in 1955.\u00a0Danuta Ryder<\/a> formerly of\u00a0Henri Bendel.\u00a0And other creatives\u00a0who fashioned windows at one point in their careers:\u00a0Giorgio Armani<\/a>\u00a0fashion designer.\u00a0Salvatore Dali<\/a>\u00a0surrealist artist\u00a0commissioned by Bonwit Teller.\u00a0Victor Hugo<\/a>\u00a0associated with the\u00a0Warhol Factory, produced window dressings for Halston in the 1970s.\u00a0Raymond Loewy<\/a>\u00a0industrial designer who achieved fame for the magnitude of his design efforts, designed windows early in his career for Macy\u2019s in New York. Christine McVie<\/a>\u00a0of\u00a0Fleetwood Mac worked as a window dresser in London in the 1960s.\u00a0Joel Schumacher<\/a>\u00a0the film director was employed by\u00a0Henri Bendel.\u00a0Between 1956 and 1958,\u00a0Tiffany\u2019s\u00a0Gene Moore\u00a0tapped Robert Rauschenberg<\/a> and Jasper Johns<\/a>, both artists associated with abstract expressionism, neo-dada, and pop art,\u00a0to create a series of unorthodox windows<\/a>\u00a0using natural materials such as leaves, flowers, fruit, dirt, and sand to showcase their\u00a0fine jewelry pieces.<\/p>\n

Candy Pratts Price<\/a>\u00a0fashion editor, began her career creating award-winning windows and displays at Bloomingdale\u2019s in 1979.\u00a0As director of display and visual merchandising she is credited with the concept of the \u201cvignette window\u201d. She created highly theatrical installations. Working with Candy was energetic when I was at Bloomingdale\u2019s as senior fashion art director in the Advertising Department, and hiring her as a consultant for a few projects when I was executive art director at Revlon.<\/p>\n
