New York City Night Out

Scene: New York City Night Out with Dustin Pittman and Manhattan Magazine. Here I am taking a video with my cell phone of Dustin Pittman’s photographs wearing a Helmut Lang overcoat which was purchased at his flagship store at 80 Greene Street in Soho in 1998, BDG silver jacket, Maison Cashmere turtleneck, and Rod Keenan New York hat from Barneys on Madison Avenue. Photo Wesley Sherow.

Scene: Manhattan Magazine, Editor-in-Chief Phebe Wahl, and Mara Gredick Publisher, proudly hosted an enjoyable and stunning evening at the Soho Grand Gallery, celebrating its 2025 Arts Issue by honoring Dustin Pittman and his exhibit, Chasing Fashion’s Cutting Edge.
The vibe was high as friends, family, and fans gathered to celebrate Dustin Pittman (aka Dustin Pop) and his legendary photography. There were cocktails and conversations as guests admired his work and danced while DJ Truth played vintage Motown sounds.
Guests included Pat Cleveland, Rebecca Moses, Jean of Idiosyncraticfashionistas, Harry King, Adrienne Landau, Ric Pipino, Linda Mason, Ron Mayes, Barry Weinbaum, and Loris Diran. Photos taken with my Panasonic Lumix with Leica lens.

Scene: Dustin’s photographs starting with Yves Saint Laurent, Diane von Fustenberg, Jerry Hall, Halston and the Halstonettes, to the Studio 54 dance floor and Brooke Shields with Calvin Klein in the DJ booth, and more.
He spent a great deal of the 70’s and 80’s working with John Fairchild for prominent publications Women’s Wear Daily and W Magazine. His photographs extended beyond fashion and exploded into music culture with Grace Jones, Lou Reed, Madonna, and others. Pittman was part of the culture of Andy Warhol’s Factory. Always underground.
Dustin has captured special moments throughout his career, evident in his latest book “New York After Dark” published by Rizzoli Books, and the Chasing Fashion’s Cutting Edge exhibit. A must see through January 5.

Scene and Heard: DJ Truth spinning Michael Jackson’s “Off the Wall” while guests dance and Dustin joins in.
