The Other Day

IMG_7595sm
Scene: Spring, I think. It was the other day anyway. The sky was cool and clear. Sunshine brightened up the day, and smiles too.

Getting Spring ready — pairing soft pastels with vivid brights. Pantone’s Spring 2014 hues include soft blue, spicy red, bold yellow, and rich orange. Plus blues, blacks, and whites. Personal color coding twists the palette. Add your own mix, and color the streets!IMG_7590sm

Jet Set Blue

IMG_0691sm
Scene: Jet Set, and indigo blue skies. Jet Set was a term for an international social group of wealthy people who traveled the world to participate in social activities unavailable to ordinary people. The term replaced Café Society, which referred to those that gathered in fashionable cafes and restaurants in New York, Paris, and London beginning in the late 19th century. Although jet passenger service in the 1950s was initially marketed primarily to the rich, its introduction eventually resulted in a democratization of air travel.

The Jet Set culture today is on the move, and is from all walks of life. Taking flight. They meet at airports, transitional cities where no one lives. Jetting away, coming and going. Sky blue is a cool hue.

Scene: The Trans World Airline Center, opened in 1962 as a standalone terminal at Idlewild Airport, now JFK International Airport. Designed by architect Eero Saarinen. Federico Fellini’s La Dolce Vita, 1960. His acclaimed film captured the Jet Set lifestyle.

Winter Ways

Scene: Snow, winds, drifts, and chills. We had some cool and sunny days too. Nature keeps on driving it home — this is winter! Staying warm is a hot trend. Essential, too. Snow crystals come in a variety of sizes, patterns, and shapes. Like snow crystals, the people in this story are unique in style, color, and texture. A warming trend!

Scene: Here they are again. Terence, Garrick, and Lenz on Main Street in Rosendale, New York coming from The Alternative Baker. They took a break, and are back for a bigger story.

Scene: Kenneth Cole’s mens biker inspired rubber boot, Electric Rain. 100% of the net profits from each pair sold were donated to
The AWEARNESS Fund, a not-for-profit entity that supports, encourages, and empowers acts of service, volunteerism, and social change which partnered with amfAR, the Foundation for AIDS Research. They were gone in a blink of an eye!

Who You Love

Scene & Heard: A Parisian moment, as John Mayer sings, Who You Love,
in duet with Katy Perry. A favorite song of mine from Mayer’s latest album, Paradise Valley. And, it hits my heart today! The intimate video features real-life couples, including Katy and John, having fun riding a mechanical bull. Dressed in southwestern cowboy gear, KP+JM stand close as they sing. If you’re wondering about the mechanical bull,
Katy said “Relationships are like riding a bull. [You fall off and]
you get back on”.
The common thread through all of this, Paris, Santa Fe, no matter where you are, is relationships.

Happy Saint Valentine’s Day!

It’s Here Again

Scene & Heard: Transition. Movement. Anew.
All the best for a Wonderful New Year, Cheers!
Music by Jefferson Airplane, from Surrealistic Pillow,
their second album released in 1967, Embryonic Journey.
