July 4, 2016, Bill [Cunningham] would be so proud of how you’re chronicling life on the street, with far more resonance & reverence than an eye for merely the fashions. We’ve probably met along the way, but if I had finally gone to one of Nancy & Harry’s annual shindigs, I’d have had the pleasure of smiling before your lens!
Your gift for chronicling the spirit of your subjects is, of course, your own innate talent, but it does bring one to mind the palpable energy of Bill’s style- that’s something very special indeed.
August 5, 2016 Mr. DeVito’s photographs have an unparalleled aptness at capturing unembellished beauty. His unglamorous portraits of young people deserve a wider public. I live at 3.5 hours by high speed train from the heart of Paris. I’ve been to Paris many times, and as recently as from 25 through 31 December last year. It’s been a great and unexpected pleasure to be taken back to its streets so soon again in this very fashion. I’ve been thinking how to say this. I ended up with what I fear (not checking) must be something of a cliché. I couldn’t get around it.
