NYFW Blue Jacket


Scene: The fourth annual Blue Jacket Fashion Show at Pier59 Studios. The event brought together the entertainment, fashion, healthcare, and media worlds. Those walking the runway included actors, athletes, models, patient advocates, and TV personalities. The Show included fashion designs from Brooks Brothers, Bruno Magli, Hugo Boss, John Varvatos, Michael Kors, and Thom Browne. The founders Frederick Anderson and Laura Miller created this event to raise awareness of men’s health issues with an emphasis on cancer education, especially prostate cancer. Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in American men.  
Talent for the show: Hair by lead hairstylist Jorge Luis and team using V76 by Vaughn which celebrates the tradition of men’s grooming with an American sensibility; Makeup by lead makeup artist Mary Irwin and team using Menaji, the first men’s cosmetic and makeup product line to address the unique needs of men’s skin; Nails Jackie Saulsbery for Suite Eleven. Above photo, Young Paris, recording artist who is redefining electronic dance music with his Afrobeats, wearing Hugo Boss.

Scene: Alex Lundqvist, world renowned male supermodel. Versace booked him for a worldwide campaign with Helena Christensen, shot by Bruce Weber which led to Lagerfeld campaigns in Europe and Guess in the US, is considered one of the ten most iconic male models of all time by Models.com, wearing Stephen-F.


Scene: Nigel Barker, TV personality, photographer, and philanthropist, wearing Levi’s.


Scene: Carson Kressley, TV personality, actor, designer, and starred on Queer Eye, wearing Michael Kors.


Scene: Rodney Gillespie, Vice President of sales and marketing at Janssen Oncology, wearing Hickey Freeman. Janssen Oncology, part of the Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson, returned as the official healthcare sponsor.


Scene: Juan Bollini, professional polo player and ambassador to The US Polo Association, wearing USPA. The US Polo Association was a presenting sponsor of The Blue Jacket Fashion Show.


Scene: Dominic Fumusa, stage and screen actor who is perhaps best known for starring in the Showtime comedy drama series Nurse Jackie, wearing Stephen-F x Peta.


Scene: Mike Crosby, retired US Naval Commander, prostate cancer survivor, and patient advocate walking on behalf of Janssen Oncology, wearing Men’s Wearhouse. After his diagnosis he was inspired to start Veterans Prostate Awareness Inc., a non-profit focusing on educating male veterans. Veterans have a higher than normal incidence rate.


Scene: Richie “The Mountain” LaMontagne, professional boxer,
Cruiserweight Champion of the world, actor, and model. He modeled for Bruce Weber for GQ, Versace, Calvin Klien, and Reebok. He is wearing Joseph Abboud.


Scene: David Coury, CEO of Uro-GPO, wearing Maurice Christophier. Uro-GPO was a presenting sponsor of The Blue Jacket Fashion Show, whose mission is to raise awareness and empower men to seek healthcare.
